A method for forming nanocapsules of a photochromic dye is provided to maximize the stability of and quality maintenance of the photochromic dye by interrupting bleeding or blooming of a stabilizer, to allow easy control of the particle diameter of the resultant latex, and to realize high transparency. A method for forming nanocapsules of a photochromic dye comprises the steps of: (a) forming mini-emulsion by mixing and homogenizing (i) a free radical polymerizable monomer, (ii) a photochromic dye, (iii) a polymer type photostabilizer, (iv) a strong hydrophobic agent, (iv) an emulsifier, (vi) an initiator and (v) deionized water; and (b) polymerizing the mini-emulsion formed in step (a) at a temperature of 50-100 deg.C. |
