A wire grid polarizer and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to suppress a filming effect on a rectangular cross-section by forming first and second regions with different widths on the wire grid polarizer. A wire grid polarizer passes a first polarization beam of an incident beam, and reflects a second polarization beam. The wire grid polarizer includes at least one transparent dielectric layer(100) and a wire grid. Plural wires are periodically arranged on the dielectric layer. The wire includes first and second regions. A width of the first region is gradually increased from an upper to lower portion thereof. A width of the second region is gradually decreased from the upper to lower portion thereof. At least a portion of the wire is buried in the dielectric layer.
