A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to prevent deformation of an optical sheet through a fixing member and prevent physical contact between the optical sheet and a polarizing plate, thereby preventing deterioration of display quality. A light source(112) emits light. A bottom cover(114) has a bottom unit(116) and a side unit(118) prolonged from the bottom unit, and covers the light source within a receiving space prepared by the bottom unit and the side unit. An optical sheet(120) is mounted on the bottom cover, and diffuses or concentrates the light emitted from the light source. A fixing member(122) is disposed in an upper part of the optical sheet, and fixes a central part of the optical sheet. |
