<p>The invention comprises <FORM:0940598/C2/1> of formula <FORM:0940598/C2/2> obtained either by reacting 3-chloro-iminodibenzyl with an ester of an alcohol of formula <FORM:0940598/C2/3> or by heating a compound of formula <FORM:0940598/C2/4> to remove carbon dioxide; the compound of formula III may be obtained by reacting <FORM:0940598/C2/5> with 3-dimethylamino-2-methyl-1-propanol. Salts of the compound of formula I may be obtained by reaction with acids. The material prepared as above is racemic and may be separated into its optical isomers by reaction with an optically active acid. The compound of formula I has serotoninantagonistic, anti-emetic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties and may be used as a tranquiliser. It may be formed into tablets or solutions with gelatine, sugar, dextrose, lactose, starch, stearic acid, magnesium or calcium stearate, methyl cellulose, talcum, cholesterol, activated silica, polyvinyl-pyrrolidone, glycerol, glycols and water.</p> |
