A method for the purification of acetylene stored under pressure in a container, in solution in one or more solvents, involves at least one stage (a) in which the gas is purified by adsorption of the solvent(s) on a solid support directly on leaving the container. An independent claim is also included for an installation for the production of acetylene, comprising means of purification by adsorption on a bed of particles, especially a bed of active carbon capable of separating the solvent from the flow of gas under pressure.
