The method involves providing the route sections as position track information that has an order succession of local positions with preset geographical coordinates and additional turning details. The position track information of the actual route section is represented on an indicator plant depending on the position of a vehicle determined by a positioning sensor. The position track information is produced using the data collected during driving on the route sections. An independent claim is also included for a route guidance device for use in a vehicle.
