A RARE EARTH ALLOY, THE PREPARING METHOD AND USE THEREOF

A rare earth alloy has a composition denoted as R₁R₂M, wherein R₁ is at least one of Tb and Dy, the content of R₁ is 0.1-50wt%, M is one or more transition metals selected from Fe, Co, Cu, Zr, Ga, Al, Mn, Cr, Zn, Ge, Se, Mo, V, Ti, In, Sn, Sb, Pb and Hf, the content of M is 0-40wt%, R₂ is inevitable impurities and the rare earth elements except for Tb and Dy, R₂ has the balanced content, further more oxygen content is less than 0.3wt%, carbon content is less than 0.04wt% and nitrogen content is less than 0.05wt%. The alloy has a low melting temperature of 1200?, and is low in oxygen content, saturated vapour pressure and cost. The alloy could be produced by fused salt electrolysis process of oxide. The alloy is suitable for preparing high performance magnetic material, especially high performance Nd-Fe-B permanent magnetic material.
