A communication device using a direct delivery path and a method therefor are provided to set the direct delivery path only for a CN(Correspondent Node) to which more than a designated level of traffic is delivered, thereby preventing an increase of control loads caused by generation of excessive direct delivery paths. A traffic flow monitor monitors a traffic flow in accordance with data packets, and decides whether a direct delivery path is set or cancelled(91-93). If the setup of the direct delivery path is necessary, a direct delivery path setup possibility monitor checks whether the setup is available(94). If so, the direct delivery path is clearly set by using a separate control message(96). A packet transmitter/receiver transmits/receives a packet directly transmitted/received with an external terminal through the set direct delivery path(97). |
