The control system has an ambient light photosensor unit (ULSE) arranged in a detection direction. A solar sensor unit (SL) generates a solar-sensor signal as reaction on the beams falling from the corresponding detection device (ER). The weather conditions are differentiated based on the basis of solar signal, and depending upon the weather condition, a threshold is selected. The vehicle light (FS) is automatically activated depending upon a ambient light- sensor signal in relation to the selected threshold. An independent claim is also included for a method to control vehicle light system.
