The method involves displaying a settlement amount for a selected data file by a display device i.e. touch screen, of an image data selling device. A connection between the device and a memory device of a user is estabilized by insertion of a portable flash-memory card of a digital camera of the user in a multicard-interface of the device. The image data is transmitted from the memory of the device to the memory device of the user, and the image data transmitted from the device to the memory device of the user is charged via a credit card, gold card or a company owned billing card. An independent claim is also included for an image data selling device for implementing the method for providing and selling of image data in the digital form.
