PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for inspecting the abnormalities of all image processing circuits in a processing path without extending any memory for inspection. SOLUTION: This image processor is provided with a reading part 11; a reading system image processing circuit 20; an image memory 13; an output system image processing circuit 30 at the post-stage of the image memory 13; a printer part 18; a loop back path 19 for returning the output of the output system image processing circuit 30 to the pre-stage of the reading system image processing circuit 20; and a CPU 42 for controlling inspection processing. Original image data for inspection are developed in the image memory 13, and the original image data are transmitted from the image memory 13 to the output system image processing circuit and the loop back path and the reading system image processing circuit, and returned to the image memory 13, and the generating circumstances of abnormality is decided from the comparison result of the returned image data and predetermined reference image data.
