NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE MATERIAL FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY, NEGATIVE ELECTRODE USING THE SAME, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cycling characteristics of a negative electrode material in which metal silicon or fine powder of a silicon alloy is compounded with a graphite material.

SOLUTION: A negative electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery being approximately spherical particles in which cores are made of graphite 1 or approximately spherical particles in which carbonaceous fine projections are formed on their surfaces is obtained by mixing graphitic powder, carbon, fine powder of metal silicon, or an admixture of fine powder of metal silicon and carbon black and coating a carbon precursor or an admixture of the carbon precursor and carbon black on a base material obtained by calcination and finally calcining them at 900 to 1,100 °C.
