PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always keep a clearance between sheets constant even if sufficient allowance is not secured for a time interval to restart transportation of respective continuous sheets. SOLUTION: In the case that paper supply of an n+1-th sheet S is delayed by a certain reason, a draw-in quantity of this delayed sheet S is adjusted to be reduced within a draw-in quantity adjusting width range in accordance with a paper feed delay quantity of the sheet S. As the result, even if sufficient allowance is not secured for the time interval to restart transportation of the respective continuous sheets, the clearance between sheets can be always kept constant.
