To provide a reciprocating compressor which may be improved in its efficiency and life, and can be small-sized and reduced in its noise and vibration. The reciprocating compressor (1) comprises a motor having a motor shaft (2s), four cylinders (4) disposed along the direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the motor shaft (2s), and four pistons (5) in that piston head parts (5h), each of which is so fitted into each of the four cylinders (4) as to be capable of reciprocating, and rod parts (5R) rotatably fitted into an eccentric shaft (17) secured to the motor shaft (2s) are formed integrally with each other.
