A method and system for converting interactive animated information conte nt for display on handheld or mobile devices is presented. Information conte nt that includes files with frames intended to be sequentially played out fo r display may be converted into a single frame or a smaller collection of fr ames for display on a device, so that a user of a device may have access to some of the content contained in the file. A server may receive a request fo r information content that includes a file with frames for playout, and the server will playout the file in an accelerated manner so as to arrive at one or more selected frames quickly. The server will then send the selected fra mes, or intermediary frames reached during playout, to a client device that requested the web page, for example.
