PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preliminarily, accurately predicting center segregation generated in the center part of a continuously cast slab of steel by reflecting various conditions. SOLUTION: The method for predicting the center segregation of the continuous cast slab of steel comprises the steps of: estimating the size of a void 3 in the final solidification part formed by bulging and solidification shrinkage based on arrangement of rolls of the continuous cast slab and casting conditions of the cast slab; calculating the average solute concentration of residual molten metal corresponding to a solid phase rate in a range from the solid phase rate of the center part of the cast slab in a forming position of the void to the solid phase rate in the flow limit; calculating micro segregation accompanying solidification progress of filled residual steel assuming that the residual steel of this average solute concentration is filled in the void; and predicting the center segregation 6 of the cast slab based on the calculated value of this micro segregation.
