PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mouse apparatus and a pointing apparatus, which may implement control in accordance with an operator's intention. SOLUTION: When the palm rest is moving and the mouse 76 is lifted by the fingers, the mouse apparatus is set to a slow repeating mode since a mouse 76 is lifted by fingers under the condition to fix a wrist on a palm rest (further, on a desk on which the mouse is located). For instance, a position of the mouse can be moved base on a relative moving distance and in the moving direction of the palm rest 80 for the mouse even if the mouse 76 is lifted and the mouse ball is not rotating. On the other hand, when the mouse is not lifted by the fingers (and the palm rest is relatively moving in relation to the desk), the mouse is set to a slow speed mode since the wrist is fixed to the palm rest and a tip of the finger operates the mouse 76.
