PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger protection device for vehicles, for surely protecting a passenger who does not wear a seat belt, upon vehicle collision avoiding operation. SOLUTION: The passenger protection device is provided with a collision occurrence predicting means for predicting a collision possibility with an obstacle, a collision avoiding means for controlling the vehicle so as to avoid a collision in accordance with a collision occurrence prediction by the collision occurrence predicting means, a passenger wearing no seat belt detecting means to detect a passenger who does not wear a seat belt, and a safe posture inducing means for inducing the passenger wearing no seat belt detected by the passenger wearing no seat belt detecting means to take a safe posture. When the passenger wearing no seat belt is detected, the collision avoiding means is operated when a prescribed condition is established after operating the safe posture inducing means.
