<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting device for a vehicle that improves visibility with respect to a pedestrian without affecting other vehicles by lighting of one's own vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting device for a vehicle is provided with a front lighting means 4 for lighting the front of a vehicle, a vehicle area specifying means 1 for detecting a vehicle existence area of a preceding vehicle or an oncoming vehicle traveling on a prescribed lane, and a lighting range control means 2 for controlling a lighting range of the front lighting means 4. On the basis of the vehicle existence area of a preceding vehicle that is specified by the vehicle area specifying means 1, the lighting range control means 2 forms a lighting range of the front lighting means 4 so that the area where the preceding vehicle exists is not lit, the oncoming lane where an oncoming vehicle does not exist is lit to a range beyond the front distance that the preceding vehicle exists, and the lane where one's own vehicle travels and its outside except the area where the preceding vehicle exists are lit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
