[Class 75 (iv).] A street lamp is provided with an inverted cupshaped casing 2 which reflects light downwards on to the road and masks the inverted incandescent gas mantles 1 or other source of light from persons at a distance, and with one or more reflectors 3 which are arranged below and in close proximity to the source of light, preferably at an angle of about 45‹, so as to reflect a coloured beam or beams away from the lamp to give a warning signal to the drivers of oncoming vehicles that they are approaching a crossroad. Four reflectors 3 of silvered glass may be arranged in the form of a pyramid and rest upon the bottom of a framework and supporting four sheets 5 of red or other coloured glass, and means may be provided for adjusting the angles of the reflectors. The casing 2 may also be fitted with red or other coloured panes or lenses 6. |
