An intercooler 40, between the compressor stages 42,44 of a gas turbine engine system, also having a combustor 6 and a turbine 8, provides heated fluid to heating means 50 located downstream of a condenser 18, which condenses fluid from the working fluid that has passed through the turbine, the heating means heating the working fluid prior to exhaust. This moves the exhaust working fluid away from a condition of saturation. The coolant in the intercooler may be water, in which case the heating means 50 is a heat exchanger. Alternatively the coolant may be air, in which case the heating means may be a fluid mixer. Water recovered from the working fluid by the condenser 18 may pass through a treatment area 20 to a storage tank 24, from which it may be pumped to a once-through steam generator, the steam from which may be fed (via lines 32,34,36) to various points in the gas turbine engine system. A damper 16, enables working fluid to controllably bypass the condenser 18. |
