A process for decreasing corrosion of radioactive material forming the structure of a reactor core involves:injection of a solution or suspension of a substance, or of a metal (compound) which forms the substance which is acted upon by radiation, light or heat in the reactor core to produce an excitation current, to deposit the substance on the surface of the core reactor material. Hydrogen is injected into the reactor water to give a controlled H concentration in the feed water to allow control of the corrosion potential.
