METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF CHLORINE

Disclosed is a method for production of chlorine by oxidation of hydrogen chloride through a catalytic gas-phase reaction in the presence of a catalyst, wherein hydrogen chloride produced as a by-product in the synthesis of an isocyanate by reacting phosgene with a primary amine is used as a raw material hydrogen chloride. The method is characterized by adjusting the sulfur content in carbon monoxide which is a raw material for the phosgene to 2000 vol ppb or less.
