A method and an apparatus for storing EPG(Electronic Program Guide), and a method and an apparatus for providing the EPG are provided to store information about a program in an EPG DB allocated to a corresponding index and display the program information about a specific program when the user searches for the specific program, thereby enabling the user to obtain the previous information about the program in a watching device without a help of other devices such as the Internet. A method for storing EPG comprises the following steps of: receiving EPG(61); checking whether there is an index map corresponding to the channel of a program(62); generating a new index map corresponding to the channel of the program when there is no index map corresponding to the channel of the program(63); determining whether the title of the program exists in an index stored in the index map when there is the index map corresponding to the channel of the program(64); applying a new index when there is no index map corresponding to the channel of the program(65); and storing information about the program in an EPG DB allocated to a corresponding index(66).
