FINGERPRINT RECOGNITION APPARATUS COMPRISING A STERILIZING FUNCTION AND STERILIZING METHOD OF THE SAME

A fingerprint recognition apparatus having a sterilizing function and a sterilizing method thereof are provided to enhance hygienic safety by intercepting an infection route of a bacterium. A sterilizing method of a fingerprint recognition apparatus comprises the following several steps. A light source controller maintains a turn off state of a light source for sterilization while there does not occur a fingerprint recognition event for a set time(S201). If the light source controller receives a sensed signal of a user's finger approach to a fingerprint contact from a sensor(S203), the light source controller waits until the user's finger moves out of the fingerprint contact by using signals from the sensor(S205). If the light source controller determines that the user's finger moves out of the fingerprint contact, the light source controller turns on the light source for sterilization(S207). If the light source controller receives another sensed signal of a user's finger approach to the fingerprint contact from the sensor or a set time has passed after the light controller turned on the light source for sterilization, the light source controller turns off the light source for sterilization(S209-S213).
