The application relates to a device for the optical characterization of probes (1), wherein the probe (1) is positioned in a light-transparent receptacle (5), and a camera (3) is provided with which the probe (1) can be detected. A first light source (7) is arranged in such a manner that the probe (1) is lit through in a direction counter to the line of view of the camera (3). A second light source (11) is arranged on the same side as the camera (3), and a laser source (19) is arranged perpendicular to the line of view of the camera (3).
