PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a skin area in a short time in a skin area detection imaging device for detecting the skin area of a human body from a picked-up image of an object illuminated by near-infrared light. SOLUTION: The skin area detection imaging device 1 comprises: two optical lenses 8 to form two unit images A and B on a solid-state imaging element 2 by collecting light from the object; a rolling shutter for sequentially reading the two unit images; and two LEDs 5a and 5b for emitting light with different wavelengths (850 nm and 940 nm) in the near-infrared range. The LEDs 5a and 5b are controlled so that the LED 5a is lighted when reading the unit image A and the LED 5b is lighted when reading the unit image B by a microprocessor 24. The skin areas of the read unit images A and B are displayed with different brightness based on a difference in reflectance to various wavelengths of the near-infrared light. The microprocessor 24 compares the two unit images A and B to determine, as a skin area, an area having a difference in brightness larger than a predetermined value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
