PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent unnecessary reading and writing in a backup of a virtual volume, and to eliminate the need for an actual capacity larger than in backup in restoration of the virtual volume. SOLUTION: This storage control device specifies one or more written parts by use of writing management information used for managing the written part in at least one first storage device, and backs up one or more data elements stored in the one or more specified parts to a second storage device. The writing management information in the backup is stored for the purpose of restoration, and the one or more data elements stored in the second storage device are restored in the one or more parts specified from the writing management information in the backup, or one or more new parts specified from new writing management information showing the one or more new parts respectively associated with the above one or more parts.
