PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an austenitic stainless steel which has a high strength, a high corrosion resistance, a good plastic processability (cold- and warm-forgeability) and a good machinability (easy-to-machine). SOLUTION: The austenitic stainless steel comprises≤0.08% C,≤1.00% Si,≤2.00% Mn,≤0.045% P, 0.05-0.15% S, 8.50-10.50% Ni, 17.00-19.00% Cr, 3.00-4.00% Cu and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. When producing the same, plastic working (forging) is carried out at a temperature between room temperature and 350°C to prevent cracking. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
