<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cartridge for a methanol fuel cell, using solid methanol as fuel having a sufficient gas-tightness or water-tightness. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cartridge 1 for the methanol fuel cell includes a casing 2, as a rectangular fuel containing body having an opening 3 formed on one end side thereof, a closing member 4 covering the opening section 3, a fuel discharging mechanism 5 disposed on the other end of the casing 2, substantially spherical solid methanol pieces 6 housed contained in the casing 2. An insertion section 4B of the closing member 4 has a sharply angled protruding welded section 41 formed at a leading end thereof. Ultrasonic-welding of the welded section 41 melts the welded section 41 and spreads it to fill the space between the insertion section 4B and welded surface 3B to join the insertion section 4B and welded surface 3B.
