<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type polarizer having remarkably improved light beam utilization efficiency and provided with both of mechanical strength and handleability such as adhesiveness and a liquid crystal display device having high brightness using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The reflection type polarizer (1) is composed of a base material, a surface layer (1) formed at least on one surface of the base material and having a linear projecting and recessed structure and a plurality of stripe metallic layers formed with a certain spacing, wherein the difference ΔN=¾N1-N2¾ of the refractive index N1 of the surface layer from the refractive index of the base material N2 is 0-0.10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
