<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce dragging torque during slipping and prevent binding during engagement in a wet multiple disk clutch. <P>SOLUTION: In this friction plate 40, the segment pieces 42 of a friction material are bonded onto a core plate 41 at intervals in the circumferential direction. Parts 43 are spline teeth fitted to the spline grooves of a hub. When the oil reserving part of this invention is absent, a first oil groove 51 opening to the inner diameter part of the friction plate forms a virtual oil groove 52 having a virtual end 53 shown by dotted lines. This invention forms a circular oil reservoir 54 at the end. Parts 61 are second oil grooves opening to the outer diameter part, and parts 62 are the ends. The shape of the oil reserving part is properly determined according to the circumferences.
