PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sharply reduce a gas discharged when sealing an exhaust pipe made of glass, which may possibly stays in a sealed vessel. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of an image display device has a process in which the exhaust pipe 500 equipped with a sealed portion of metal to which plating treatment is applied is connected to the vessel to evacuate the vessel so that it has a pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure, and a process in which the sealed portion 501 of the exhaust pipe 500 is crimped and sealed to separate it.
