PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, wherein the work of measuring the height, width, and distance of an object using a measuring tape has different measurement results that depend on the accuracy of the work of fixing the scale plate of the measuring tape with respect to a measuring object orthogonally or vertically, namely, it is liable to be affected by the experience of the worker. SOLUTION: A recess approximate to the thickness dimension of a component 4 at the tip of the scale plate and a recess of the width dimension or longer of the scale plate 3 are formed in a tool 12, with a shape extending in the orthogonal or the vertical direction, with respect to the extended direction of the scale plate 3 of the measuring tape 1. By using the elastic force of an elastic body 18, the scale plate of the measuring tape is pinched by a part 16 with an irregular surface shape, approximating the curved surface of the scale plate 3 of the measuring tape. The measurement auxiliary tool of the measuring tape, having this constitution, is overlaid on the end of the measuring object. As a result, the scale plate of the measuring tape can be fixed to the measuring object orthogonally or vertically.
