The cylinder (6) has sections (A-F) provided in series in an axial direction to a lateral surface, and a printing plate arranged in the sections. A channel extends in the axial direction and has an opening on the lateral surface of the cylinder. Holding devices associated with the respective sections are arranged in the channel, and are pneumatically actuated in sections wise. A recess, which is opened on the lateral surface of the cylinder, is formed outside the sections. A control device (18) is provided outside of the cylinder and actuates control valves (36) in a non-contact manner.
