<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic controller for surely deciding a failure of a timer circuit. <P>SOLUTION: In an electronic controller equipped with a microcomputer to operate with power by turning on an ignition switch (IGSW) and a timer IC always supplied with a power, the microcomputer started by turning on the IGSW resets the timer IC and an internal timer, and when detecting that the IGSW is turned off, the microcomputer decides whether or not the difference between the count value of a current timer IC5 and that of the internal timer is within a specific range, and when it is not within the specific range, the microcomputer decides that the timer IC fails. Furthermore, after the decision processing, the microcomputer sets the frequency of a counting clock of the timer IC to a frequency larger than that in a normal operation, and resets the timer IC, and when detecting that a fixed time has elapsed based on the internal timer, the microcomputer decides whether or not the count value of the timer IC has reached the upper limit value, and when deciding that the count value of the timer IC has not reached the upper limit value, the microcomputer decides that the timer IC fails. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
