<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy both of prevention of filming of an image carrier and prevention of soiling of an electrifying member by optimizing a lubricant application amount. <P>SOLUTION: An interval for executing the application mode of the lubricant in which a lubricant is applied to a photoreceptor 1 by using a lubricant applying device 3 is decided according to an image area and the number of printing times (Print/Job) at a time.
