PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect that there is a problem in circulation of a coolant transferring waste heat to defrost water, in a refrigerator promoting evaporation of the defrost water by waste heat of a Stirling refrigerating machine. SOLUTION: Cold derived from a low-temperature head 112 of the Stirling refrigerating machine is transferred to a housing chamber for objects to be cooled of the refrigerator 1 by a low temperature-side circulation circuit 130, and heat derived from a high-temperature head 111 is radiated to the exterior by a high temperature-side first circulation circuit 120. A low temperature-side evaporator 132 is provided with a defrost heater 77, and defrost water is accumulated in an evaporation dish 153. One part of a piping 152 of a high temperature-side second circulation circuit 150 deriving heat from the high temperature-side first circulation circuit 120 is used as a defrost water heating pipe 152H. On the basis of a temperature detection result of a defrost water-heating pipe temperature-detecting element 180 provided on an inlet part of the defrost water heating pipe 152H in a portion not immersed in the defrost water, a control part 80 recognizing a circulation problem of the high temperature-side second circulation circuit 150, extends a defrost cycle of the defrost heater 77.
