The device (10) has a sensing resistor (20) for measuring actual flow current, and a digital signal processor (14) for receiving a measuring signal of the sensor. The processor evaluates characteristics of the measuring signal based on a parameter of the measuring signal at the beginning of radiation loads. The processor produces a deactivating signal, when a parameter of an actual measuring signal exceeds the parameter of the measuring signal to initialize the radiation loads above a preset threshold value or when a slope of the measuring signal exceeds a preset slope.
