A backlight unit and an LCD device having the same are provided to improve the strength of lamp holders to which the electrode portions of lamps are fastened, thereby preventing bending or defect caused by damage in an assembly process. A backlight unit includes plural lamps, a first lamp holder(150), a second lamp holder, a plurality of first and second PCBs(Printed Circuit Boards), and a protection mold(150b). The plural lamps are disposed at regular intervals. The first and second lamp holders fix the plural lamps respectively in both sides of the lamps. A common electrode pattern is formed to supply a common voltage to the plurality of first and second lamp holders on the first and second PCBs. The lamp holders include a first soldering portion(175) and a second soldering portion formed in connection areas between a pair of first and second support portions(171,172) and a pair of third and fourth support portions(173,174). |
