A rolling mill oil film bearing is provided to prevent a lock assembly from tilting or binding during mounting and dismounting by encouraging proper alignment of the lock assembly on the roll neck with first and second bearing elements. A rolling mill oil film bearing comprises a housing, a circular lock assembly(44), first bearing elements(66), and second bearing elements. The housing contains a sleeve bearing and a thrust bearing(34). The circular lock assembly coacts with the thrust bearing to axially retain the bearing on the roll neck. The lock assembly is axially received on and rotatable into and out of mechanical interengagement with the roll neck. The first bearing element is carried by and projects inwardly from the lock assembly to contact with a surface of the roll neck at a first location. The second bearing element projects inwardly from the housing to contact with an outer surface of the lock assembly at a second location spaced axially from the first location.
