POLYDIORGANOSILOXANE-MODIFIED POLYMER AND A PROCESS FOR MAKING THE SAME

A base polymer that is modified by forming a copolymer with a linear polydio rganosiloxane wherein a terminal functional group of the base polymer is bonded to a reactive group attached to at least one o f the recurring siloxane units of the polydiorganosiloxa ne and a process for making the copolymer. The base polymer preferably is a fib er-forming polymer such as polyamide and polyester. The incorporation of the polydiorganosiloxane into the base polymer improves the processing of the base polymer into a useful product.
