PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a sufficient straight traveling property as much as possible while reducing lowering of ride comfort when a run flat tire is blown out. SOLUTION: The side-reinforced type pneumatic run flat tire has an outer wall part 12; a pair of side wall parts 14, 16 positioned at both sides of the outer wall part and integrally formed with the outer wall part; and a pair of side-reinforcing layers 18, 20 for reinforcing the side wall parts. An outer periphery of one side-reinforcing layer 18 is positioned at an outer side in a radial direction than an outer periphery of the other side-reinforcing layer 20. It is assembled to the wheel such that in the case of a front wheel, one side-reinforcing layer 18 is positioned at an outboard side relative to the other side-reinforcing layer 20, and in the case of a rear wheel, one side-reinforcing layer 18 is positioned at an inboard side relative to the other side-reinforcing layer 20. Lateral force for canceling excessive yaw moment applied to the vehicle when the tire is blown out is generated by difference of reaction force due to difference of elastic deformation of the pair of side-reinforcing layers.
