Electric arc welding device comprises an electrical energy source (90), a welding switching circuit (200) and a welding electrode. The electrical energy source produces sufficient voltage and current for the welding switching circuit to form an electric arc between the electrode and the workpiece (30). The energy source has a cell stack (110) or stack of fuel cells (100) delivering a voltage of approximately 15.4 V and sufficient energy for producing a welding current of approximately 100 A and a welding voltage of approximately 20V. At least one of the fuel cells is a direct fuel cell and/or an indirect fuel cell. An Independent claim is also included for a process for producing a welding bead on a workpiece using the above welding device. |
