PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send data in RDS/RBDS format on a radio wave transmitted by an FM transmitter. SOLUTION: The FM transmitter 100 transmits a signal based upon the RDS or RBDS format. An interface unit 20 receives data D1 to be transmitted through a prescribed bus from an external host processor 120. A memory 10 stores the data D1 received by the interface unit 20. A data generator 12 generates group data G1 based upon the RDS/RBDS format using the data D1 stored in the memory 10. A frequency modulator 24 frequency-modulates the group data G1 generated by the data generator 12 and outputs the frequency-modulated data. The data to be sent that the interface unit 20 receives may includes a code of at least one of a broadcasting station name, character information, music/voice, a program type, and a PI (program discrimination).
