LOW PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP, BACK LIGHT UNIT, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low pressure discharge lamp capable of preventing occurrence of cracks at the end part of a glass bulb, a backlight unit, and a liquid crystal display device.

SOLUTION: The discharge lamp is provided with a glass bulb 2 and an external electrode 101 installed at least at one of both end parts of the glass bulb 2. The external electrode 101 is constructed of an electrode main body layer 101a formed on the outer face of the glass bulb 2 and a transparent conductive layer 101b laminated at least on the electrode main body layer 101a.
