HORIZONTAL TOASTING DEVICE HAVING A SHUTTER PLATE FOR PREVENTING RADIATED HEAT FROM REACHING TOASTED FOODSTUFF

A toasting device (1) of the horizontal type comprises a bottom housing element (11) that accommodates bottom heating elements (20). Foodstuff to be toasted is arranged above the bottom housing element (11). In order to avoid a situation in which toasted foodstuff is still subjected to heat after the heating elements (20) have been shut off in order to terminate a toasting process, shutter means (50) are applied for shielding the toasted foodstuff from remaining heat. For example, the shutter means may comprise a shutter plate (50) for closing a space where heating elements (20) are located. In a preferred embodiment, the toasting device (1) according to the present invention comprises means for performing a cooling function. By applying the shutter means (50) and possibly cooling means, a situation in which toasted foodstuff is still heated after the heating elements (20) of the toasting device (1) have been shut off is avoided, which enhances controllability of a toasting process.
