PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse advance warning device which is capable of suppressing an increase of the cost by suppressing an increase of the number of components as much as possible, and adequately retrofitted to an existing passenger conveyor. SOLUTION: The reverse advance of passengers is detected based on the detection timing of the passengers by two sensors (a primary sensor and a secondary sensor) on an exit side, and an alarm is output. In particular, passenger detection sensors 10a, 10b provided to determine the start of the normal operation in an automatic operation type escalator are used for the primary sensor, and the secondary sensors 12a, 12b are installed at parts in a vicinity of a doorway in an escalator body.
