PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod furnished with a threading guide member to stabilize the engaged state of a fishing line, while preventing damages to the threading guide member, the thrust of the threading guide member to a rod bag, and the like, and to provide a top cover for the fishing rod. SOLUTION: The top cover 7 is provided with a threading guide member 8 to position the top cover 7 in a line-passing path, in a state of having the top cover attached to the tip-top of the rod and retract the fishing line (a) into the line-passing path, when detaching the top cover 7 is to be detached from the tip-top part. The threading guide member 8 is provided with a line-engaging part 8A and a sharp insertion part 8c, placed at the tip end of the line-engaging part 8A. The rod is furnished with a cylindrical cover member 9 for covering the line-engaging part and the sharp insertion part 8c, when the fishing line (a) is engaged with the line-engaging part 8A.
