PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight assembly capable of improving light efficiency and a display device equipped with the same.

SOLUTION: The backlight assembly includes a plurality of light sources and a light guide plate leading in incident light emitted from the plurality of light sources. The plurality of light sources are arranged in opposition of one or more of side faces containing a center part of the light guide plate, and further, the plurality of light sources contain a first light source group containing a plurality of first light sources arranged to be condensed at the center part in the plurality of the light sources, and a second light source group containing a plurality of second light sources among the above plurality of the light sources and arranged to adjoin the first light source group. An average pitch between light sources of the first light sources is smaller than that of the second light sources.
